Can you track a QR code?
Yes — you can track how many times a QR code is scanned, when, roughly where, and on what kind of device. But there is one catch that trips people up: you can only track a dynamic QR code, not a plain static one.
Why static codes can't be tracked
A static QR code sends the scanner straight to your destination. Nothing sits in the middle to count the scan, so there is simply no way to know how many people used it. If you have already printed static codes, tracking them after the fact is not possible.
A dynamic code, on the other hand, routes each scan through a short redirect link. That redirect is the perfect place to count the scan before forwarding the person on — with no delay they would ever notice.

Can you track how many times a QR code is scanned?
Yes, but only with a dynamic QR code. Each scan passes through a redirect that counts it. Static codes go straight to the destination and cannot be counted.
Can I track a QR code I already printed?
Only if it was a dynamic code to begin with. A static code that is already printed cannot be tracked retroactively — there is nothing recording the scans.
Does tracking a QR code collect personal data?
