Free QR code generator

Create a styled QR code in your browser in seconds — no sign-up, no watermark, and no monthly fee. Download it as a high-resolution PNG or a print-ready SVG and use it anywhere.

What "free" actually means here

A lot of "free" QR generators are free right up until you try to download a decent file, or they stamp a logo on your code, or the code quietly stops working after a trial. Ours does none of that.

The free tier gives you a static QR code: the destination is baked permanently into the pattern. It is beautiful, high-resolution, watermark-free, and yours forever. The only thing you cannot do with a free static code is change where it points after it is printed.

  • No account and no email required to create or download
  • Custom foreground/background colours, dot and corner styles, and a centre logo
  • High-resolution PNG (≥1024px) and vector SVG downloads
  • No watermark, no expiry, no monthly bill

Static vs dynamic — which free code do you want?

If the link will never change — a Wi-Fi password, a vCard, a URL that is fixed forever — a free static code is perfect. Print it and forget it.

If there is any chance you will want to change the destination later (a menu that updates, a campaign link, a rebrand), you want a dynamic code. Ours are a one-off $3.99, not a subscription, and you can edit the destination forever without reprinting.

How to make your QR code scan reliably

Most codes that "look fine but won't scan" fail for the same reasons: too little contrast, an inverted colour scheme (light code on a dark background), or a logo that covers too much of the pattern. Our editor warns you when a colour combination is likely to fail so you catch it before you print.

Keep the code dark on a light background, leave a quiet margin around it, and test the printed version with a couple of different phones before you order a thousand flyers.

Editable QR codes. Pay once, works forever.

One payment from $3.99 — no subscription, no expiry. Change where your code points anytime, forever. Free static codes included.

Questions, answered

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes. You can create and download styled, high-resolution QR codes with no account, no watermark and no payment. Static codes are free forever.

Do the free QR codes expire?

No. A static QR code has the destination encoded directly in the pattern, so there is nothing on our side that can expire it. It works as long as the destination it points to exists.

Can I use a free QR code commercially?

Yes — put it on packaging, menus, posters, business cards, anywhere. There is no licence fee.
